Tricky Icelandic pedestrian crossing

I've seen something similar where they've painted 3D children in the road and in Nottingham there's a village that has concrete bollards next to the road that look (at least at first glance) like kids on the edge of the pavement waiting to cross. The bollards certainly get your attention!

Didn't seem to slow down the driver of the Land Rover who went steaming through near the end of the video...

In Iceland they've painted what looks like a 3D crossing for pedestrians, in the hope it will make drivers slow down . I like it, but would it work for long?

Surely people would turn around if they saw them and not even attempt to drive over what they think are massive blocks in the middle of the road.

The kids on bikes swerved to avoid the blocks.

But the kids on bikes are coming the other way. From the video I think the illusion only works from one directions (and that's also why the pedestrians don't have expressions you'd expect if they thought they are walking over a pit)

Round this way the council have done the opposite.

They make it look like a normal road, but have installed huge pot holes to slow down speeding road users

Ah, I saw one of those during my tour of the Cotswolds last month, outside a village school. On his own he looked a bit grim, like a hostage tied up there as some bizarre punishment. I suppose it might startle a few drivers.

There is one (maybe two) outside the school near Slimbridge, only someone has a sense of humour and so it ends up with bobble hats, etc. This week it had a jumper over his head. (Could be it's how they deal with lost property). We normally look to see what he's wearing when we go past.
