I'm going to pick it up on Sunday, my brother in law is happy to lend it to me for a month to see how I get on with it ... perfect !

I have done three Ironmans and loads of shorter races and I have only ever raced on a road bike with clip ons. The longer the race the more important comfort is. Enjoy it

You have clearly not seen me out on the road yet .... regardless of bike, I'm never going to fly past anyone !!

It depends how well you come off the bike. If you can jump off the bike and hit the ground at your best running speed off a relaxed geometry bike but need some time to straighten out after spending time in an aero tuck, then your overall time is probably better on the slower bike.

This doesn't apply to top athletes.

Personally I'd be going with the £50 and having it whatever. Unless it's an absolute wreck it'll be worth far more than £50

Yeah, agreed. But if you don't get on with it, sell it and split the profit with brother-in-law. Alls fair then.

If you like it, you will probably get more than £50 for your carrera. You have my permission to keep all of that.

If I don't like it I'll give it back so my BiL can sell it on - as you say its worth way more than £50 when family rates are not being applied. My Carrera will being going down to Brizzle to start a new life as a student bike, God help it !
