Trek 1.5 H2 or Secteur Elite or Other?

As you say, you really need to try them first.

I have a 2010 Secteur elite triple. I dont think you can get a 2011 with sram AND a triple as the new sram is supossed to have wider gearing at the back so it only needs a double at the front for simplicity and lightness. To be honest, I wanted a triple as I had previously been riding a mountain bike on the road and the wider gear spacing were and anoyance, although I doubt the spacing on the sram will be as wide.

For me, as soon as I tried the Sectuer (At the concept store in birmingham) it just felt right, like something I could depend on - it was on sale at £800 so I had it. I have not had chance to really give it a good ride due to the weather and work but s few 15 and 20 milers have been enjoyable, and it was set up to perfection.
I have changed the tyres to 23mm so I can get the Crud guards on, and fitted a Topeak rack and got a matching bag...Strole on summer rides out!

The CAAD is very well regarded though, and the tiagra seem to be a workhorse that will get you through a good few years and can then be replaced cheaply or upgraded depending on your situation at the time.

You pays yer money and takes yer choice.

Sorry to barge in 'off-topic' but Paul, what Topeak rack and bag did you fit to your Secteur my friend? I will need one soon for my weekend jaunts and I'd like something not too much of a faff to fit/take off and able to carry tools, lock, extra layers and still have enough room for sarnies etc.

Back on topic, the Secteur (2010) is a fine all-day bike

Hi,

Its a topeak supertourist DX rack with the matching bag.

Topeak seem to do 2 sizes so be carefull if ordering online. There is an RX range, and an MTX range. You cant (or shouldnt) mix an RX rack with an MTX bag and vice-versa.

I got a Secteur Sport 2010 in the end for £519.99 with some Shimano SPD pedals thrown in. Well impressed with the bike, now I have had a few rides to get used to it. At first I felt stretched and thought about a shorter stem, but now I think I am happy with it the way it is.

Thanks, the more I ride it the more I like it. The brakes were the only issue, but after getting better pads (Clarks CPS240) they are much better. The pads that the bike comes with are shockingly bad IMHO.
