Transporting cycles

Afternoon guys,

not sure if it's the right place to post so i apologise in advance if i've got it wrong,

I've just been and picked up a 'halfords essentials' cycle roof carrier, bog standard £15 job, my bike fits on perfectly, but the other half has a dodgy full suspension style bike and I just can't seem to get the angle of the frame holder thing right (it says 90 degrees in the manual), i can get it on at 'a' angle but the frame doesn't seem to clamp properly as it's not in the groove.

Any tips or should I abandon all hope?

Had the same issue. My Dawes XC was fine. My sons and wifes bikes didn't work great for various reasons. Ended up using zip ties to ensure they weren't going anywhere.

Thinking of taking the bikes on holiday but it's a 5+ hour drive, don't really want to 'bodge' it for such a long distance haha

Just nip out with the bike on the car and go away for the holiday. When you get back, feign forgetfulness.
