Transferring cranks with BB30 - would somebody please explain?

erm - you have HT2 cranks which you want to move to a BB30 frame. So you need an adaptor which allow you to do that. That's an amalgamation of your question and my answer, with no new information added.

If the red frame is BB30, then it has been fitted with an adapter to accept that bottom bracket which is a HTII BB, not a press fit BB.

Wait hold on. A TRICROSS SL3? Surely you mean Tarmac ??


Either way, you need to convert the BB shell down to 24mm inside diameter for HT2 cranks. The praxis above is probably the best way. Other methods appear ropey

To be fair, it would serve you well to find out. You need to establish what BB is fitted to the red frame (looks like a threaded HT2) and then you need to find out what is fitted to the grey frame (looks like OS30/BB30). You will then need to look for an adaptor to fit. Although I don't see why you can just use the OS/BB30 crank that is already fitted, if they are both your bikes.

The chainset on the grey frame is FSA Gossamer BB30 while that on the red frame is Ultegra, with HT2 threaded I think, yes. I'm thinking of trading up to SL4 and need to know how easy it will be to move all the kit across to the grey SL4 frame.

There's no advantage or benefit in replacing the FSA BB30 chainset with the Ultegra HT2 chainset. Just leave it on there. If you don't like the idea of a BB30 chainset, then simply don't buy a BB30 frame.
