Apols for double post. What I wanted to add was well done Zoof, I've also found the spin bike sessions in the gym really good training both for cycling and for my running too.

Good effort, Zoof, to see you so dedicated to your training.

Having just moved miles away from a gym, and with poxy weather here, I'll be doing more training at home with a skipping rope, light dumbells and a Swiss ball.

Eating smaller portions will also most definitely help.
Another foot note, with the gym training 3 times a week.

Hi Dayvo I'm Hypoglycaemic so to keep healthy I have to burn off 600 to 800 k's more or less every day! At the gym we now have a good social group going, a bit like a CC ride. This helps tremendously and stops it becoming a bind, and as Cavendish says “it's pride man, that makes you do more”

I come from a MTB, so on a spinner I’m in foreign waters. This eventually will change the muscles set up in my legs. From weight lifter type; to quick action or snappy boxer's arm muscles. This type of muscle holds more glycogen and may help with distance. The down side I think is that they may be to stressed, and suffer strain if not run the right way. All new things to learn; this for me is the best of CC; people with experience having trod the same path, willing to share their knowledge.

3 times a week I cycle in to work via the gym and the other 2 days I drive.

New to cycling, boardman b'day pressie. cant get enough of it. with colder weather setting in thought about a turbo trainer but as I am a gym member will do 20-30 mins spinning before or after my exercize classes. not quite the same as the open road, but want to try and keep/improve my cylce fitness so I will be ready to cycle farther and faster next spring and if we get good enough weather in the winter. Current only getting about 90 speed dont know if I could get the 120 another member mentioned.

 On the rollers most evenings, commute 5 days a week, always out weekends either the road bike or mtb,
am missing the warmer weather and the lovely country roads around Epping, roll on the spring,

I only cycle for my commute, which is 14.5 miles round trip a day. I'm not a leisure cyclist.
But i do 200 crunches a day and 250 press ups also.
I run ( If time with a young family allows! ) 5 miles every other day.

Just about keeps me in shape..

I went to look at 2 local gyms last night, with a view to going perhaps 4 times a week - 2 spin sessions and 2 cardio/weights or whatever. On one hand, I think spinning would do me the world of good. On the other hand, I think it looks like death-on-a-stick

For me it's the same all year round!
Monday: pilates with swiss ball (core strength prevents injuries, so the physio told me)
Tues: body pump and spinning (1 hour each)
Weds: slow recovery ride (outside in the evening with lights, whatever the weather barring a hurricane)
Thur: 2 spinning classes back to back (effectively 2 hours intervals)
Fri: Rest
Sat: 50+ mile road ride or 2 - 4 hr mtb ride, gets longer in the summer.
Sun: Rest - it is the lord's day after all

I feel spiffing as a result, but haven't really changed shape or lost weight particularly. The spinning class I go to is run by a seasoned roadie and it's absolutely brilliant. Everyone from the local road club who goes has posted a PB this season in the club time trial. I can keep up on club runs (there are only 2 women on the run), which is an achievement for me.

Well, I have just done my first ever spin class... OMG, my legs!
Can honestly say that that's probably the most knackering 45 minutes of my life.

When I was walking from the studio round to the locker room, it felt like I was floating - very weird...

There you go. FTFY  Seriously, that's a lot of exercise.

Dayvo:

I know you've mentioned yoga before, but i had a look at the gf's pilates DVD yesterday and it's quite good. Here's the

linkydink. 2 days delivery, norsk talende, and it fits in your letterbox (mentioned that as it's prob a day's bike ride to the nearest PO where you're living now )

I can't offer any other advice as I've not been doing much in the way of training myself for a while now. In fact, i was hoping for some from you:-

Got my pappa permission (12 weeks!) coming up soon. Do you remember the name of the spinning instructor (better of the two) at the Elixia here. And any other hints and tips would be useful as i haven't been to spinning classes before.
