I've been watching White Collar on Netflix, where the criminal on probation wears an anklet to track his moves. Who needs anklets when you've got Google?
Frustrate Google: stop carrying your phone around with you so much. When in the house, leave it on a shelf (out of sight/reach of the letterbox...) If you don't need to be in contact, go for a walk without it or put it in airplane mode (whence the battery will last longer).

Or if you've the technical know-how, reflash the phone to a custom firmware with the Googly bits disabled (which they seem to be making harder and harder to do with latest Androids...)

I have the same problem, I use Strava for stuff I am happy to share / have on my profile.

Ive been using Open GPS Tracker to replace mytracks it's not the same but once I turned up the sensitivity two notches I'm happy with it.

Wish mytracks was staying though... Plain simple and works!

I use Strava, though I was initially put off using it by the idea that it was for racing/fast cyclists. And at the end of the year it sends me a little summary of what I did that year.
I use Strava too, and Garmin connect, yes first few times I used it and knew where segments where I was actually trying to beat them, then after a few rides I thought 'why?' ,now I just enjoy my little Tour de Wherever and have a look at what I did when finished, lot more enjoyable and very good info.

MyTracks had gone but only because Android is tracking everyone now.

Go to Google Maps, hit the menu and look for "timeline".

Don't know where you were last light? Never mind, Google knows

I just checked and there's nothing in my timeline. You can control what it knows.
