I've been using MyTracks to track my rides on my Android phone but it's being withdrawn at the end of next month. What are the best alternatives for tracking where I've been and how fast?

I use Strava, though I was initially put off using it by the idea that it was for racing/fast cyclists. And at the end of the year it sends me a little summary of what I did that year.

Yep Strava for me to , good to see how you stack up against other users who are shown if you've cycled the route or part of it

I use Strava too. But also Mapmyride offers up routes in your area that people have cycled. So I map my routes from there and ride with Strava

It's ironic (or something) that locking into google apps is not as safe as other apps. I've been abandoned a few times by google.

Anyway, make sure you download all your existing data from MyTracks https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6333516?hl=en. It's pretty easy to upload them to Strava, so you will quickly get a solid history in Strava.

Though you don't have to use it, social interactions is a big part of strava. You can follow your friends, and comment or give kudos. You can even find out the strava identity of people you pass on your rides.

(I was going to suggest endomondo as an alternative, but uploading a long history of rides to endomondo would be unbelievably painful)

MyTracks had gone but only because Android is tracking everyone now.

Go to Google Maps, hit the menu and look for "timeline".

Don't know where you were last light? Never mind, Google knows

I've exported my data (I think. Techie I am not!) but I couldn't see how to upload it to anywhere else, so uploading to Strava looks like a good plan! Thank you.
