Ah well, my training for this had been going well (I am now a hill-chevron hunter). Today I've got a sore throat and horrible cold, and bursitis in one knee. Time for a few days off the bike...

Get the illness out the way now. My training involves hills it is going downhill, been lethargic for over a month pigging out hasn't helped at all. Quick detox time. Not long to go now where's that 34 ring too

Hope you all enjoyed the ride ?

We've just watched it go through Dunkeswell ... some very tired looking riders but well done to everyone

You didn't wait long enough for us!

Bloody hell that was hard! Relentless, never ending, leg breaking hills. It's always nice when you've hauled up some b*stard of a hairpin and then see that it merits a double chevron on the map. But we both managed Peak Hill without walking. Baggy gets the prize as she didn't put a foot down whereas I had to *ahem* 'admire the view' on the way up.

B'Jesus, the hills were long weren't they?
Just couldn't do Peak Hill at that point in the ride, maybe earlier, but not at that point in the ride. A friend also walked part of it, he said his heart rate cycling was 160bpm, and 150bpm just walking up!

This was my first sportive type ride and coming from East Anglia training was a bit different! This was hard if I do say so myself, I got a third up Peak Hill and my hamstrings were screaming! Only had one functioning cleat for 90 miles, which was fun! Great day though.

177 BPM my Heart was last of my problems, back felt like it was going to snap. Within half a pedal turn of stopping/falling off many times. Just did it

I hope the two gentlemen on the hill enjoyed their day telling everyone they were nearly there to our delight Halfway up the Hill!

The finish certainly had the wow factor. Excellent day out, very well organised and thanks to all the people lining the route and their generous applause for all.

One to remember for many reasons.

We got 120 miles exactly - but that includes 6 miles riding to the start from our B&B, plus another mile riding out to the car park at the end and a few hundred yards of Baggy riding round the car park to get up to 120 exactly.

Take those off, convert to km and I get 180k as well.

I reset as I crossed the start and reached 175.3km when finished. Felt really sorry for six lads who got back to Minehead on 8pm transfer who got back at 11.15pm and still had to cycle uphill for a couple of miles.

I noticed the feedstation at Honiton was 110 into the ride and with the challenge ride being 70K that tied up with the 180 i got so i'm glad we get the same. No way i could have rode home to get the 200K, couldn't sit down.
