If Bos had hit the barriers, they would have gone the other way for an even bigger pile-up.
Assuming the race jury are right, I'd guess that Bos caught Impey's LH handlebar on the way through, sending the front of his bike right and causing him to fall left.

Just watched it on Eurosport it looks like he grabs him to me it looks even worse on a big screen. Eurosport commentator says that Impey is all over the shop prior to going down and that Bos is trying to save himself. If he was trying to save himself from going into barriers it was a crap move.

Strange then, that the judges didn't deem it malicious, nor is it reported as such in the cycling press!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It does indeed look a bit malicious, but it's very difficult to prove that it was, and you're innocent until proven guilty... even in cycling!


I guess they don't want bad publicity either....

Having thought about it for a bit, I think that Bos caught his brake lever in behind Impey's bar end as he was going past, and that the hand on the back was a useless attempt to ward off the impending crash.
Impey was moving left, and I think Bos had spotted a big enough gap from 3 or 4 bike lengths back, put his head down and gone for it, only to find it had closed before he got there.

If Bos had grabbed the jersey and thrown Impey, it would have equally have thrown Bos to the right. If Bos had hit the barriers, he would have come down onto Impey and sent him the other way.
