Stage win for Benat Intxausti ahead of Dan Martin - results showing Tony Martin was 6th!
I read somewhere that Tony was going to try to turn himself into a stage race, even GT contender, as he seemed to be heading earlier in his career. Maybe this is the start of that - much like his brother Dan:whistle:

It'll be interesting to see if Tony Martin can become a GT contender. His lone breakaways in the latter part of the season were quite fun to watch, maybe he can start off with a few semi-classics or classics and then build up to GT?

He used to climb quite well but maybe decided to not bother trying or changed shape to do well in the TTs. As you suggest, he should really do well in the Cancellara. It must be slightly unsatisfying to do a 3 week tour and just tread water till the ITT or lead Cav out in a sprint. He's better than that.
