Hindsight agrees with you but I presume the tactic was to burn off ValvPiti and Porte expected that he would be stronger than he was. I guess that Sky assumed, probably correctly, that Porte would never beat Valverde in an uphill sprint finish.

True, i missed a bit of the highlights. How much of a turn did Sir Brad take on the front before he dropped off? Was the sky train expecting him to take them further up the hill and not have such a long ride for the last four or five riders.

You know looking at that video... there is again (like last year) hope for @smutchin 's prediction
I'm confident this is G's year.
G was looking good in those last kilometers and the Eurosport guys said it as well (only about 5 times)

And am I the only one who thinks it's a bit of an outrage that Rebellin is still riding around (with his proven past) and is looking surprisingly springy still for a 42 year old?
(taking 3rd place before Porte)
