Tour de France Stage 7 - SPOILER

Bloody shame about Wiggins, he looked to be flying.

I'm not so sure he will target the Olympics next year, a podium place on the tour would be worth ten times as much and from his comments after '09 I think he realises that himself. Let's face it, the Olympics are basically for armchair fans (except in the case of athletics and swimming maybe) but in most other sports success in their own long standing monuments count for a lot more.

Olympic gold in football or a World Cup winners medal? A gold for golf or the US Masters? A road race most will have forgotten about in six months or the Tour de France? No contest for the professionals or fans of any of these sports.

Horner won't be starting today, but should never have been allowed to continue yesterday. Video here of him finishing - scary stuff.

My god! He didn't know where the hell is was! I'd say a gutsy finish but I suspect he didn't really know too much about it.

Interesting comments from Bruyneel re the crash - he said it occurred to the front of the peleton. So not too many black marks for any team (Sky included) for being where they were. Sometimes there is just bad luck.

It's a total disgrace!

A man who was clearly suffering from a concussion was allowed back on his bike. He couldn't remember the accident, or even what country he was in!

Ditto for Boonen. He landed on his head in his accident a few days ago and started having blinding headaches before yesterday's stage but his team were egging him on to continue.

Apart from the risks to those riders' own health, there are too many crashes in the peloton already without having riders wobbling about all over the place suffering from head injuries!

Absolutely. Apparently alot of the guys in the peloton actually complained because it was too dangerous having Boonen in the middle of them.

This has been a bad, bad year altogether for crashes, and it ain't over yet.......
