Right sorted now. Tried the wrench on my steel tourer/commuter. Set to 4Nm, tightened and tightened for what seemed like ages and then the click/clonk/ skip or whatever you call it. All good. Tightened seatpost on road bike too. Probably a fraction tighter than I would do by hand to be fair but loosened without Gorilla force. Thanks for the input, turns out I was just overcautious.
