Ok, I had a retest today and it seems they got it REALLY wrong last time

I was having HELL with my new Bins

now I know why

I want to give toric contact lenses a go, is there anywhere I can buy just a single box from online ? I have never wore 'em before but my lust for cycling sunglasses knows no ends

My eyes are:

L SPH: -6.50, CYL: -3.00, Axis :165.0

R SPH: -6.50, CYL: -2.00, Axis :5.0

Gaz you could do what I did and get a free assessment at Dolland and Aitchison.
Print a voucher off their website and make an appointment, they'll give you a pair or to try for free.
If you haven't worn them before they take a bit of getting used to, but I am really glad I went for them again now.
My prescription is slightly less than yours (-4ish) but should be no problem.

You can then buy them from anywhere once you get the ones that suit you best

Thanks Pot's

What concerns me is that I cant actually find anywhere online to buy them from in my spec

Suggesting that its gonna be a custom thing meaning big bucks

Contact lenses will have a different prescription to your spectacle prescription Gaz.
I wear toric lenses. They are double the cost of normal contacts.
Optical Express do a weeks (5 lenses) trial.

what I do is wear the lenses for long rides. For my day to day commute I use prescription transition cyclist glasses from Optilabs.

That's what the optician does Gaz, toric lenses are designd to fit your eye and are quite custom (within reason)
Like Ian says though they are more expensive than normal contacts.
At the minute I have stayed with the optician care scheme which costs £25 per month, but does include aftercare and a 'free' eye test every year.

I have quite severe astigmatism and use normal GP contact lenses for riding (£120) and then don a pair of 1.5 glasses (£2)with them for reading.

I have astigmatism, and have toric gas permeable contact lenses. They cost about £200 a pair, ouch, and I have to take them out and clean them every evening, and they suggest you replace them every two years, more ouch. I got mine in Boots. Before that I had old-school hard lenses for about 20 years. They didn't cost so much, but I don't think you can get them any more.

I think Boots had some lenses that were the right shape but the wrong prescription that I tried on? Maybe? Gas perms take more getting used to, but I think they are easier to handle and look after.

You'll then need some genuine Oakley's - this is going to work out very expensive!

£250 for contacts

Plus

£150 for the oakley's

Or I've managed to find oakley's in my prescription for £229 and my script hasn't hardly changed in 2 years

So blow it , contacts for cycling sound a real pita

Gaz,
try optilabs.
They do specialised sports prescription glasses.
You can get prescription transition glasses for £160. They do some great designs too.
