I’m planning to use as a base and go over to Tan hill pub while up there.
Discuss.

I’ve had a week at Danby Wiske, close to Northallerton, the last three years. Find myself visiting most years Richmond, Reeth, (getting to Tan hill and back is beyond my wish now) Bedale, Ripon, Thirsk, Great Ayton.
Some great routes and i appreciate their smooth tarmac which has far less drag than my roads at home. My avg speed always looks respectable down there 😊
If you like steak pies then the Buffalo farm shop is the place to go.

Nero’s for a good coffee and cake, Uno Momento for a full belly, Ontario for a full English.
Between N’allerton and Darlington is the site of the Battle of the Standard, a memorial stone is at a lay-by on the A167.

I dispute both of these, better than Costa or Starbucks though. There must be better cake closeby surely?

Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes, is worth a visit for some cracking cheese, as recommended by Wallace & Grommit, there's the James Herriot museum at Thirsk, also a nice chippy near the clock tower, also the Wensleydale Railway at Leeming Bar
