I did the C&G course at the Webb's five years ago, and it was well worth it (I stayed in one of the two caravans they had on site) and learned a lot (and have since forgotten a lot).

Plenty of good stuff to ogle at.

Obviously there are items that most people have like screw drivers and Allen keys....

erm... no? I too am buying as I go. got the tool that takes of the wheels. ...

For allen keys do not use the free ones that come with flat-pack furniture, they are next to useless and made of cheese, buy a proper set of chrome-vanadium steel 'L' shaped ones (metric sizes only for cycles unless you are in America) and do not lend them out ever. Multi tools have their uses for roadside repairs but for home use buy the tools as and when you need them and don't expect bargain stuff to last as long as quality kit.
