Tool for removing rear wheel

15mm box wrench.
dumbell spanners have stuff protruding from all sides. Box wrenches surround a nut. You may need one with a thinner wall to clear your Breezer-style collared dropouts.

Could you put a spacer behind the nut to raise it proud of whatever is shrouding it?

Take it to LBS and say 'I need QR skewers please'. Job done.

The ones I've seen have holes in the other end to allow the insertion of a suitable implement (screwdriver etc) to give more torque.

I thought that you could get QRs for just about everything nowadays. Heigh ho, I stand corrected.
The photo wouldn't enlarge on my laptop, for some reason, so I couldn't get a proper look at it.

Get something like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acor-Home...15mm-Socket-/111540377667?hash=item19f8531843 you have the 15mm socket/box spanner, a 14mm box spanner (which will probably fit your front wheel) and a pedal spanner.

Trouble is that you have solid axles on your bike, so the suggestions of QR are pointless unless you go to the expense of buying a rear wheel with a suitable hollow axle - ! I've never seen a bike with recessed axle nuts before - what make is it - ?
Never been a fan of QRs because they are QR for any thieving little git as well. I fit security skewers to all my hollow axle bikes; just need a 5mm hex key to get the wheel off. Never had one nicked yet - !

thanks for the advice, you can see why I seeked help, having those nuts recessed makes things tricky and could guarantee buying the wrong tool. The bike that ive got is this,

not sure of your axle size but you could try to find some deeper wheel nuts like these

they might let you get a conventional spanner on them

My Felt singlespeed CX bike has a similar problem because there are raised 'guards' round the dropouts.

The good news (for me) is that the bike came supplied with a suitable spanner with a built-in 15mm socket.

Park Tool offers this along the same lines, which might be what you need:

It even has a bottle opener in the other end. Also, it can be kept on the bike at all times mounted to standard bottle cage bosses (just remember to carry an Allen key to remove it when necessary - although I see the one in the link cones with wing bolts for tool-free removal).
