I'm the exact opposite to all of you.
Being very very Scottish / Irish I must go through the following process before tanning.

From the blue of freezing cold to milk bottle white.
Milk bottle white to lobster red sunburn.
Lobster red has to subside a little to slightly red.
Slightly red sometimes leads to a mild tan.

That's as good as it gets really.

This is me, too. I have a friend. Except not the scottish bit. Funnily enough the most tanned i have ever been is when i lived in Scotland! Dundee to be precise.

Oh, and let's not forget the summer mitts lines

I tan very easily, last summer my arms & legs where a lovely 'chestnut' shade, as were my fingers from the knuckles down... A non-cycling friend asked if i'd used fake tan as I'd forgot to do the back of my hands!

I'm sure your dog would be fine .... but what about other people's?

True... I suppose I wouldn't want them to feel jealous, inadequate or gain an inferiority complex or something.....

Or double over laughing and pointing

or have some strange chinese man with funny glasses come over and invite me on his on his TV show

Working a lot outside always wearing a top, I have year round tan lines.

When I lived on Cyprus as child I never burned, only got it after I'd been in the UK for a while. Round the elbows and knees mostly. Don't do the lying on a beach thing.
