@Oaklegs, the easiest way not to get side-tracked by previous content is not to look at it and go and do something more useful instead... but then we'd all need to have a life.

There is no need to read everything.

The archive is handy, and you can use the search function as & when you need it, but otherwise you can just read & comment on active topics.

Moderators don't have time to read every post, Mr Summerdays already things I'm on too long as it is. If there is something you object to, hit the Report button and we will take a look, though I like the fact that the forum has a relaxed feel to it. It wouldn't be as welcoming and friendly place to be if we had a strict must stay on topic rule, (didn't that partially cause another forum to implode?)

Instead of wiping the slate clean, why not lock the forum and just keep it as an archive? I'm pretty sure that everything that can be said has been said.
If they go with this solution I hope they wait until after September. I am quite curious to learn if the Scots gain their freedom.

Are you meaning C++, when it was renamed and rebranded. My memory of that was that was the awful layout, ,difficult to use, advertising etc caused us to flee? I was thinking of ACF? I think that is the one? Didn't the person running it start to enforce rules very strictly and kick people out for minor annoyances, and delete posts? I wasn't part of that one so can't be sure.

Maybe If the important threads wore hi-viz, we’d be able to spot them a lot easier amongst everything else.

Infact it’d be irresponsible not to insist on using it on everything a we go forwards.... (reversing it’s not an issue)
