Put this on my my scales this morning just of 28 lbs

Sounds a lot, but 12.7kg doesn't sound so bad. To me at least.

For the lbs I imagined 28 bags of sugar. For the kg, two UCI limit race bikes or a12kg dumbbell (actually, that seems heavier). I think my bike with tools and full bottles is heavier than that.

I've a Tonard rear rack on the 1980s Falcon I've stored here. Nicely made plastic-coated steel, if I remember correctly, but it's not easy to check. I ought to move that bike on to someone who will ride it, but it reminds me of my teenage bike more than my current one (which is objectively better and has a better story).

Anyway, if they made bikes, that would help explain the nice rack!
