Wasn't that long ago when I thought anything over 10 miles was a huge ride and when I first started upping the mileage I would get home from work have my tea and then fall asleep in front of the telly, I was permanently knackered for a few months, even nodded off at work once or twice!

Nice one.....100 in a week is always my target, but work and the kids normally prevent me from completing it. I can get between10 and 15 each lunch but then need two decent rides on a weekend and like yestrerdy i didnt get chance to go out

Well done! :bravo:
Shame about the saddle problem: tried leveling it, or adjusting the tilt?
Some experimenting (leading to more miles) might be required.

Blinking saddles are a nightmare.. you get one and you think you have it right, then you get fitter and faster and you then need another saddle lol..

Great stuff - well done. Onward and upwards. Winter miles = Summer Smiles that saying is totally true.

My first ever commute one way was sometime in July 2010 15 miles in 1hr 40. I only remember it as when I got home I sat in front of the TV red faced with a pint of iced water watching Spain in the World Cup and couldn't speak to my wife for half an hour or more!! I think she was poised in the dining room with the phone ready for 999!

I ride bikes every where as a kid , then stopped, as you do. Started in May strugling to do 10 km on a mountain bike at 14 kmh average, I built the average to 27 kmh over 46km. I've just bought a cracking second hand Dolan and the average has gone upto just shy of 30kmh average over 20 kmh and the longest ride on Sunday was 60 km at 28.4 kmh average followed by a 10 km recory ride at 23 kmh! I'm lovin it. Interval training tomorrow and Friday to push the average speed and a recovery ride in between. I'm looking to push harder on Sunday to crack 80-100 km . My ass is on fire mind so I guess the saddle might need to be changed

Awesome..!
I think you are on the right track to get to wherever you want to get...!
That is the best way to do it.. Compete with yourself and if you beat someone else in the process is extra motivation..!
Soon you will be like others hitting lots on km...
Oh one one to learn? Ride in km and climb in feet..!!!

Woohoo I hit another big personal goal today. my partners boy and I caught the train up the coast (ish) and cycled back through the suffolk countryside. I hit my first 50 mile ride. Arse and knees feeling it but really chuffed. We were nearly home but after checking we would have been a couple of miles short so added a quick lap of the marina giving us a total of 51.5 miles 96 miles since Sunday morning and we are booked on a 30 mile ride Sunday so my second 100 mile week this month.
You guys on here are definitely an inspiration

Its great to hear of your progress Steve. I also started this year and my progress has followed yours even though you are ahead. My longest ride is 40 miles and I am working towards the big 50. Congratulations on your progress.
