This week I managed to hit a target I set for myself. Ive been off work for a week( Holiday) I set myself a target of riding a 100 miles over the week, Ive not ridden that far for many years. Today I hit 107 miles in 6 days, my biggest ride being 41 miles on Thursday, Today I finished with a 20 mile ride which went great, Im really starting to feel like im getting fitter. today I took a hill that usually kills me and knocked half a minute off my best time. ( Im no speed freak but am definitely getting quicker)
The only problem Ive had is that after 20 miles my bum kills me, I wear padded shorts but they don't help. so today I took the Charge spoon saddle off my old Raleigh bike I built a few years back and put it on my new bike that seemed to make a big difference, felt much better at the end of my ride today so Ive ordered one off ebay

Thank you, I know its nothing compared to mileage some of you guys are hitting on here but I guess we set personal targets and work on them, A great by product of my cycling is that am probably at my lightest weight for a while. which is hopefully going to drop a bit more as I cut down on my red wine consumption.

Well done . Just keeping riding and enjoying it the distance just comes to you as you get fitter .I found setting targets keeps you motivated . How about the half century challenge ride a 50km (32 miles) once a month for a year runs Jan to Dec but you can you and post your rides .see thread in cyclechat and recreational rides .It got me upping my mileage

Last winter was my first winter of riding I like you was dreading the weather .Only missed two weekends one through frost therefore dangerous and the other high winds and rain not fun .If you can pick your days Sat or Sun and vary the times if other stuff in life allows normally you can find a weather window when it's not too bad to get a ride in

Well done.

41 miles is more impressive in kilometres. 66km! Two thirds of a metric ton. Your're nearly close enough to round it up ;)

Sort your saddle problems out and you'll be away!

Brilliant achievement! I'm waiting to get used to my Liv saddle ....

My first 'long' rides when I got back into cycling was 10 miles. I had to go lie down after for half an hour as I was so bushed & knackered,,,,and also thought I could never do 50 miles let along 100.
I think my first long ride was across the FRB; I got a far as the south side, less than 7 miles from my home, I was so wobbit I turned around and went home!
