I live in the Algarve, Portugal now and we see local Pro teams around and some of the larger outfits on pre-season training from time to time, especially around the Volta ao Algarve Pro Tour.

Almost, Porches. Which, like Carvoeiro, is in Lagoa so only a few km's away from me.

I hired a road bike from a place in Carvoeiro for the day. Thought it might've been from yourself, but as it transpires it wasn't!

I met one from the south west of England, pushed him off on a few TT`s, a miserable obnoxious tw*t!! You had a better experience than I did.........

No wonder, I wouldn't fancy being pushed off if I was going really fast

Ah no, I have no connection to any of the tourism companies. I see them about and my local bike shop is involved with rentals and tours but I've never been on one myself, just see them from time to time on the roads and trails.
