Anyone else noticed how "to be honest" is becoming a massively over-used phrase? Its starting to drive me nuts when people throw it into sentences repeatedly.

Oh and yes I agree with this. I usually try to interject after the "honest" with an over-caring "oh, please do".

Where did you source your avatar Tete?

Is it that strange owl, cat thing that turns into a bus?

In honesty, you're probably just noticing it more. I think it's always been used.

Personally, I dislike 'loving your' as in 'loving your avatar' etc.

BUT language goes through change and fashion (like, how popular is like at the moment?). There are better things to do then get stressed about it. Like, nah wot ah meen? Innit.

"At the end of the day" is another one that drives me nuts.

A friend of mine used to say this at the end of every third or fourth sentence. I'm not really exaggerating. It drove me MAD. She was cured when I started quoting it back at her each time she said it. ;)

Source ha ha very good:smile:

It's basically a totoro. To a certain extent, THE totoro. He doesn't change into a catbus, but he takes the catbus when he can't be bothered walking.

Google served him up to me after I watched a film about his neighbours.

A lot of politicians have started saying "Look, ....." whenever they're put on the spot in interviews. It's supposed to imply "I'm a down-to-earth, no nonsense type who cuts through the crap" (ie. can't answer the question).

I used to have a manager who repeatedly used phrases like "let me run this past you" and "we've got to grasp the nettle firmly" or "pick up the ball and run with it." Used to drive me mad.

'...nothing else is new....'

My sister says this all the time on the phone, then proceeds to tell me something else new. She once managed to say this 9 times during one telephone conversation, each time she followed it by telling me something new! Grrrr!

I know a guy who has a really loud voice who always overuses the phrase "BETWEEN YOU AND ME..." even when the room's full of people and he's only addressing one of them!

AGGGHHHH!
