right, fess up, who has been air lifted off a real mountain whilst mountain biking because of an error of judgement. or just ended up in A&E without another vehicle being involved?

I know I have on both counts.

Is this the real story behind the dentures?

You could do 'fess up threads, like Dell does In Praise Of. I am too inadequate for both.

You don't have to take huge obvious insane risks to do it. I crushed two vertebrae riding on a canal towpath a couple of years ago, riding up a simple wooden step next to a lock gate. There's a story on here somewhere about it, and at the time I was told off by one poster for taking stupid risks.......
Thing is we are all risk averse up to a point, but our own experience generally serves to tell us when we're not up to a challenge. Risk takers have more fun, but the element of risk differs for each and every one of us.

I agree. My mate will ride down rocky hills faster than me but me has yet to have a serious "off". I am sure that after his first dislocated wrist, cut head or worse he will reassess the risk involved; I know that is what happened to me. I will ride technical routes but get off and push when the alarm bells start ringing.

Thanks for that - I was emailed the photos by a colleague who occasionally passes on crazy sports stuff on the basis that I do stuff like this (well, not like Moher - unless it's on foot) but he usually forgets to fill in the details.

Even more dramatic was a Chinese 'via ferrata' which looked horrendous - all dangling, rusting, insecure-looking chains across long smooth slabs. I'd much rather stick to climbing the rocks any day.

Did anyone ask how the guy was?

All the video says was that he lived.
