Cheers Sim. It's a funny route. 40 miles of mostly climbing up to Mam Tor, followed by 30 miles of mostly descending. Then 30 miles of extreme lumpiness kicking off with Beeley Moor. They would be a nice, challenging ride on their own, but after 70 miles....

They had a signing on session today and there were quite a few riders with town bikes. Hope they're doing one of the shorter routes :blink:

Does sound like a good challenge , Let me know how you get on.

@jonny jeez
Im actually really eager for this 100 miler now. I have done a couple of 40 miles now. Even one straight after work (panniers included). So was 50 miles that day.

Had this week off purely to rest, I still commuted , It was so hard to just sit in and do nothing.

This Tuesday I have made up a ride to Kingsbury for my little group. Have even moved the time forward as a couple of them have a set time to get back for so this give us the extra time for the miles. One of the ladies is always up for more miles so we split off to eat and then group back up for some more. Even after that I am quite sure I could eat and carry on for more. Defiantly is just a staying fuelled thing for me. Its the time I'm lacking.

Absolutley, treat it as a tour not a race.

Pick a good pub 50 miles away, ride halfway to it and stop for tea, then the rest of the way for a lunch, have a beer, a chat, warm up if it's chilly, then take it easy for 25 miles to the next stop.

I agree with this completely. I know its a big jump 50 to 100 , I will get more serious with my cycling hours come the new year. (less playstation lol). Doing the Coventry skyride thing on the 27th September so hope to speak to a few more like minded people there.

Thank you for your input though very much appreciated

Well today me and my cycling partner went for a ride to Stratford , 64.81miles + 2437elevation gain 11.11mph. It was a poo start as I had a bust spoke yesterday evening so had to delay the start time to get that fixed. This meant we were in rush hour traffic for the ride home.

We did get off at 2 hills on the way back (gutted about this). 1 we stopped chilled and got back on, the other we walked it because it would have been a pain to get moving again with wobble etc and the heavy traffic. Was really 1 stop each :smile: as she could have done 1 hill and was fine for the other.

Overall though I am more than pleased about this and look forward to my next ride. Bonus points on my half for taking the extra 9kg of stuff in the panniers.

Dont be gutted about getting off and pushing, we have all done that. I often do it. You are trying to cover a distance, its not a race. Forget about the speed thing and it will take a lot of the pressure off you. Take time to stop, take photos and enjoy the views, eat your food. Be a tourer and not a racer and it will be easier for you, in my opinion.
