Oh great, yet another thread about Islam because you can never have enough of a good thing.

I'm not having a go at anybody race or creed, but I see in the papers the Cof E is loosing it's congregation, if we take the God save the Queen out of it we could end up having to play a different tune to please the minority of this country.

When I first read Numbnuts' post, I interpreted it as meaning he felt an English Anthem would be thin edge of the wedge for the union. Curiosity lead me to check for the possibility that it was a straightforward suggestion, so I Googled it.
I am, obviously, no clearer on the intended meaning.

I understand it that God Save The Queen would still be the anthem of the United Kingdom and it's just a suggestion for an anthem for England on the ocassions that the Welsh and Scots have their own.
