You know it makes sense - but as a compromise, I might, MIGHT accept Bluebell Polka.
Although not credited with lyrics, the popular opening lines were......
Pickin' the bluebells in the merry month of May,
When everyone was happy and everyone was gay.
Which might not mean quite the same now as it did in the '50s when the tune was more popular:smile:.

You mean it wasn't the popular 50 Cent version?

I wonder if the people of Liechtenstein ever have this debate?
:biggrin:

I think this may be a strong candidate for us;

(We might, perhaps, omit the comedic preamble).

Handily, there's also a version for the young people;

If we were to highlight our famed love of irony, the nation could, perhaps plump for this (sans the 30's era descriptions of the folk in Timbuktu, naturally);

That Japanese anthem sounds like it was composed by the ghastly Graham Kendrick or one of those other one-finger composers of modern twaddle who have destroyed British church music with marvels of composition like "Shine, Jesus, Shine". Arguably the banality of their music has actually contributed to the decline of organised Christian religion in Britain.

But I digress....
Here, here.
(As a person who is once again, as the last time, opposed to revision of the Episcopal Hymnal in the States to include such dissenter twaddle.)((Last time 'round, they removed "Jerusalem" as being too militant. Like the Church shouldn't be letting people know what they believe is right or wrong...))

Oooh. This is a good game. Youtube is blocked, I listened to Radio 3 this morning - what might it have been?

(Goes and looks at the Radio 3 website)

The Knightsbridge March?

of course, gravity might have it on his Eric Coates greatest hits album but seemed to big a cooncidence.
