Latest Tiagra and TRP spyres which are more than good enough(I've had them on my Planet X XLS for over 18 months now with no problems)

If you can hang on until later in the year it would probably be down to nearer your budget.

One thing seems missed out, the Tiagra is available as a triple the 105 isn't

I had a 26 mile (each way) east/west commute with about 50 metres of climbing.

A lot of London is very flat

Its flat here, but still on occasions need low gearing as there a couple of short steep hills, if memory serves me, London is much the same topography, I can ride for miles at less than 27ft a mile, but my mates to home 2.6 miles its 143ft its 55ft/mile 80-90ft in the last 1/2 mile or so

I have ridden quite happily south to central on a single speed and compact double (big ring only), about 13 miles
