...roof mounted carrier. Any good? They seem a good combination of price, features and quality, and would appreciate feedback from any owners before I do the deed.

Cheers,

Ivan.

They're superb IME and I've no hesitations recommending them to anyone :okay:

Well made, easy to use, and spares are readily available too if needed :okay:

[EDIT] just remembered I actually had the Proride 591 versions, but these look very similar and I've never had an issue with any Thule product TBH.

I borrowed one from a mate for a recently for holiday in Cornwall . Bike was fine at motorway speeds but front wheel seem to wobble a bit couple of larger cable ties solved that . I would recommend them

New motor hasn't got a tow bar, and its cheaper to buy a decent roof mounted rack than buy a tow bar and have it fitted. I'd prefer the tow bar option, but money talks...

If your dont have roof bars already be aware that you will probably need the correct fixing brackets for your car in addition to the roof bars and the bike carrier. When it's all added up the cost of getting towbar fitted doesn't seem so out of the question.

I'm a towbar rack advocate - BUT I have some rooftops as well for odd times I need more than 2 on the back. The Thule products are all brilliant but the Halfords own brand rooftop racks are just as good (they used to be made by Thule IIRC) ... probably worth looking and checking prices.

We use proride 591. They are great and am going to attempt getting 4 on top of the Zafira today. At 5'1" this could be a challenge lol. If you fancy pro rides you can get 2 for £116 from a motor dealer online called Sandicliffe.

I have a couple of Thule 591 roof carriers. Not sure how different they are to the 532 you mention.

Very happy with them indeed.

Remember not to go under any height restricted barriers! I have nearly done so once at a toll péage on a French M-way. Saved at the last minute by my observant wife.

Yeah, had tow bar carrier on the truck but the new compact SUV thing doesn't have one, and its 200 sheets to buy the bar, the relay box to protect the multiplex wiring, and fit it, so its an easy financial decision!

I'm tall and hefty, so lugging one up there isn't an issue.

Got the 532 from Amazon on the way for £38, so compared to the excellent 591 at £65 for the cheapest, so that was also an easy financial decision!
