Throwing a brake pad is this common??

Had it twice with Gorilla pads but they were rather thin so I may be partly to blame!

A few years ago I bought some Clarkes shimano fit disc pads from Wiggle, and yep you guessed it……One of the front pads fell off with a very short time, coming down a hill. I always carry a good used set as spares, so carried on, then some while later, maybe 6 months , one of the rears fell off. Now I never fit pads by the same supplier to both axles.. Wiggle didn’t want to know. Nuke proof have always been good, can’t remember what else I got in there.
Now then, interestingly, some backing plates have holes in them, where the pad material is pushed into, to act as a key, to help the bonding, but the failed ones had no such holes, and were just stuck on.

Here is a picture of the brake pad pair. I assume they are original pads from when the bike was new (I purchased it 2nd hand)
