I got a specialized allez sport from evans for £500. Wouldn't that be a better option. They may do a better deal now the new model has come out.

I seem to remember reading on here that the new 2012 roadbikes look better but have less good components
I noticed this since last year too, more money and lower specked gear, it seems a new trend to rip us off

As long as I breathe, I attack.
im 6foot2, i sat on the large which seemd ok, when i check 54cm on a size guide it ways its for 5'7"+ do you think this is an issue? surely the biggest bike they make wouldnt be for 5foot7?

it felt ok but i didnt tke it for a ride

Halfords measure the frames as they come , this means a bike with a sloping top tube is measured to where it meets the seat tube to give the size rather than the more usual standard of measuring to where it would neet the seat tube if the top tube were level.

It is confusing........

My small Boardman is listed as a 51 but if you measure to to where it would meet if it were level it is more like a 53/54, the same goes for my medium virtuoso with an even more sloped top tube.

The only thing you can do is go into the store and try some for size , if you can get the seat post right then your most important measurement is the reach which gets longer as the bike gets bigger.

|From halfords own sizing on the bikes description...Large bottom bracket to top tube = 54cm which is equivalent to our standard 60cm frame.

So the 54 cm is the equivalent of riding a 60 frame if the seat tube/top tube meet with the top tube flat.

thanks cyberknight, that explains a lot. The bike felt fine, just worried me when reading the measurement against

stephen, im not a big fan of specialised looks tbh, the c2w scheme suggests it has to come through halfords, ive got one carrera from them and love it, so it all seems to fall into place. they are trying to get the red and black one in for me and if so im going for it. i know the feedback for halfords is not too great but my local store is excellent, the guys are great, very helpful, nothing is too much trouble, they are very careful when setting up new bikes so fingers crossed they get one and it works well for me
