simple fact is... some cyclists don't want to be given advice about how to ride a bike... especially by a lorry driver.
On the evidence of this thread? Utter total rubbish.
I don't have a particular problem with the advice, nor with following it. Indeed, I am probably even MORE careful than the driver advises; in addition, I make damn sure I look out for lorry drivers' interests, to "help them on their way", when I can show that small courtesy and recognition of THEIR courtesy and care.
That has not prevented me being on the receiving end of some atrociously dangerous driving by some truck drivers who just DGAF. The dimwit in an artic who pulled a desperately close, desperately fast (to bust the red lights), left hook on me on a roundabout.
Second unrelated point. How credible would notional cyclist Z's "educational" video be? Z argues that truck drivers must adjust their driving to cyclists
- who don't have mirrors, and therefore can't be expected to know what is behind them; (
).
- who wear extra large blinkers on their helmets, and therefore can't be expected to know what is beside them. So they don't get distracted by pretty girls on the pavement; (
)
- or who wear headphones, and therefore can't be expected to hear what's going on behind them; (
).
Now
THAT would be a cyclist who didn't "want to be given advice"

. And he wouldn't last long on the forum.
Ahem - how different is that from the lorry driver?
