This tiny submarine 2.4 miles under the sea, visiting the relics of RMS Titanic. Can it be found and the crew saved before the air runs out?

I'd be worried about the fact that every other deep sea submersible is spherical and engineered to an incredible degree of precision. There must be a reason why they didn't go for a cylinder...

This, pretty well much... Although this is for a metal cylinder, but the visual is pretty self-explanatory.

I take that whilst the port hole is missing that is possibly as a result possibly a result of the explosive decompression rather than the cause.

Maybe, maybe not.

We know that the viewport wasn't rated for the depths at which the sub was operating. It could have blown out of its housing because it failed catastrophically, or it could have blown out because the pressure vessel itself failed. End result is the same though.

The question is whether there's enough of the debris in big enough pieces for the accident investigators to work out exactly what went wrong.

Any chance we can wait for the experts to investigate and report based on evidence? Ppl died and other are speculating how based on a few photos of btarp covered fragments. I hope friends and relatives aren't reading all this.

PS I get accused of insensitive a lot but all this feels a bit too much now. 39 pages of it! Come on ppl!

Sorry, no offence was intended.

Sorry if I was a bit strong or telling off voice came out. I just put it out there as all this talk on the materials and science is interesting but perhaps after the expert's report back it might be better. Then it would be informative based on evidence / report and relevant. It's a tragedy for 5 ppl.

Meanwhile:
In 2020, 607 child passengers* ages 12 and younger were killed in motor vehicle crashes in the United States,1 and more than 63,000 were injured

What makes this so compelling though is the sheer rarity of it and the spectacular nature of it, not to mention the seeming negligence/needlessness of it all.

I mean, when did you see such a thing? As @rockyroller says, it's grotesque!

This is in no way to detract from what you have said above, I mean your stats are grotesque too, but this is a different thing.
