This morning I hit 75mph

And, by the time I had hit the end of my road I had travelled 3.3 miles. I suspect that my ipod was interfering with my Raleigh computer.

Anyone got any tips on this? I was using the ipod to listen to the radio, so wondered if that was the problem.

BTW I gave my muscles a needed rest yesterday (gotta build up slowly) and nipped out for half an hour this morning again, as I am out tonight. Managed three miles, which isn't much, but part of it was up a very, very steep hill - and I cycled half way up without stopping! Mind you, walking the rest of it was even harder lol!.

Someone needs a new computer...

Try getting a digital wireless computer or just a wired computer... ;)

well, my wireless computer works fine....

APART from the average speed, which is E or something, i think it means E-Mazing

Do you reset the trip distance before heading out ?
My cateye enduro 8 wired had that after a certain distance and was cleared by a reset.
I think E is for a calculation error caused by values that are too high for the average speed
calculation (as in it doesn't handle a distance over 65000 as in 650.00 in units of 0.01)
as an average speed is fairly meaningless beyond a limited time scale (especially
if this involves losing a few stone and putting on some more muscle)
I've yet to see a stupid value on my cateye strada.

My wireless computer is boringly correct all of the time. Even matches the speed of those roadsigns which flash up your speed.

Wireless computers are regularly upset by the detector loops they have built into the road at traffic lights or to open electric gates on carparks, etc.

My 2 CatEyes are fine, but my Boardman does 64.8mph at traffic lights, so obviously it's that frequency.

It also spikes-up high going past an electricity substation and doesn't like my LED lights, when when on 'steady' rather than strobe.

And after the Cheshire Cat early this year, I was amused to find I'd done an extra 450miles simply by parking my bike near the finish timing mats whilst I waited for my clubmates to come-in...

I've got a wired Cateye, and never had any problems on the road. But I once left it next to my mobile phone, and when I picked it up again my max speed was 220mph!

Yup. Stop listening to your iPod. It will cease to interfere with the computer and your road awareness.

*sigh*

I've lost count of the many times I've put forwards compelling arguments that riding with headphones or whatever is perfectly safe, and never has anyone attempted to address my points. But time and time again I get comments on this forum making disparaging remarks about people listening to music whilst riding, calling them 'idiots' or 'suicidal' or whatever.

I would like to ask everyone to do a search of keyword 'headphones' and username 'Jezston' before making such comments, and then either revive those threads to refute my arguments, or kindly refrain from posting ignorant comments.

Anyway, I'm done! Carry on

All kinds of things can interfere with your computer. Where I live it's every time I go past the local garage for some reason. I'm peddling away when suddenly my computer tells me I'm doing 80. As soon as i get past the garage it returns to normal. Strange.
