This morning I hit 75mph

And, by the time I had hit the end of my road I had travelled 3.3 miles. I suspect that my ipod was interfering with my Raleigh computer.

Anyone got any tips on this? I was using the ipod to listen to the radio, so wondered if that was the problem.

BTW I gave my muscles a needed rest yesterday (gotta build up slowly) and nipped out for half an hour this morning again, as I am out tonight. Managed three miles, which isn't much, but part of it was up a very, very steep hill - and I cycled half way up without stopping! Mind you, walking the rest of it was even harder lol!.

my solution would be dont listen to your ipod, stops the interference and could potentially save your life.

I had the same problem with a raleigh computer reading 75mph. I found that if I moved the magnet even closer to the sensor it tended not to happen as much. I'm not sure it was the ipod.

Pish..75mph is NOTHING.

My maximum speed is 149. Damp pockets, metal clip sharing same pocket as computer, across the terminals.
I've had 120 out of the computer monitor too when I put it on the shelf an inch from the screen

My maximum is a touch over 110mph. I regularly get 109.7. In all these cases I'm stopped at the local traffic lights. Wireless computers pick up the signal from the sensors.

Thanks for all your replies ... this was the first time listening to an ipod when cycling .... I had it in one ear only, and turned down fairly low, but I will take on board the safety suggestions too, as well as thoughts on moving magnets etc.

Many thanks

I doubt its the I-pod, An ipod isnt high voltage and it doesn't produce a radio signal, does it?

It's quite common for wireless computers to have 'blips'. I had a problem for months with both my heart monitor and wireless computer when I was on the turbo trainer. It turned out to be the houses boiler. Everytime the boiler kicked in both devices went wrong.

LOL to the old boiler doing it to your heart!

I was listening to the radio on the ipod, an FM station, so I will try it without that and see what happens. It once gave me over a 100 mph when I was stood outside a Tesco, and I blamed the sliding doors then. Who knows, maybe it is just fickle.

Ha....lightweights....I once had an average of about 2000mph on my Garmin, and an equally ridiculous trip mileage

Was there any overhead power lines? I've heard of those causing glitches.

Let not forget all the wireless routers strung along in houses along every street, so many gismo about these days it a wonder anything works theses days as i sit on my PC, well on the chair, at my desk. My bike computer is on the desk and is showing I am doing a steady 32.8 Kph. must be a majicial desk.

I only get negative interference with my Raleigh Echo, if its too close to the front light and the batteries are weak it only records every 3rd or 4th cycle so I'm going 5mph when I'm freewheeling downhill. The solution move it further away and get a new battery.

I could do with some positive interference though, the most that computer has recorded is 39.8mph in the Wicklow Hill. My top speed was recorded on a wired computer 47.6mph and still isn't that fast.

On my old commute, my computer would go stupid at one particular point, as I rode past the golf club. Up hill. At 105 mph.

Then when the batteries went and I put new ones it, it became super-sensitive for a while and I would frequently be stood still on the drive at home doing 80+ mph according to the computer.

Sometimes it went the other way - I did 30 minutes at 0.1 mph (though to be fair, maybe I actually did, I'm not the speediest)
