Great article Gaz,

I've now got at least 2 other people I work with cycling with a third in the pipeline. You inspired me I've inspired them. Fantastic stuff. Can't wait to show them the article so I can tell them I know you via cyclechat. Hopefully I can get them on here too!!!!

Well done mate

Awesome story mate

Its what its all about, inspiring one person, to inspire others and it becomes the snow ball.

Today I became a qualified British Cycling ride leader too, so thats something else up the sleeve to try and inspire more people with.

Short answer is I now work for Sky/ British Cycling as a Sky Ride, Ride leader.

Longer answer is I can now lead any ride of upto 8 people ( I can even charge for it LOL) and I have insurance to cover it too.

I was wondering how long the scanned article will stay up, so I read it while I still can!

If you ever feel like slowing down for a forum ride Gaz, you know where to find us!

Are you saying I'm tight?

Okay, I admit it! We called in at Oxenhope station this morning. I'd heard a steam train and fancied a look, but then saw that it was 20p for a platform ticket - no thanks! ;)

Love it!! I am a tight northerner by birth, whenever I come and do a HB ride I grumble at paying 20p for a pee in the Market car park loos

I can imagine Gaz leading a bunch of semi retired/pootlers on a Sky ride, looking back and they are nowhere to be seen as his awesome speed has left them way behind

A friend of mine does them with his wife and tells me they are lucky to average 8mph on the flat on some of them

Haven't they got free loos in that cafe you and Shaun go to?

I was moaning about the cost of the loos at Manchester Piccadilly, but then I saw the free ones at Manchester Victoria ... At least the money seems to get spent on maintaining and cleaning the 20-30p ones.

That was my main worry, on the course we averaged 10 mph and I was told many times to slow down LOL

However I will only be putting myself forward for the Ride STRONG events, 23 miles, hilly and you must average at least 15 mph...........

As an aside, I made it the 10 k's to work at an average of 19mph today, thats a new PB, but its far from hilly, pan flat/downhill is closer to reality

I would be interested to know what i could do a flat 10 miler in. I do a 13 mile circuit from home and have managed 17.8 mph average on one occasion. thats as flat as possible but still involves dropping down several gears in places where the hill drops the speed to about 12 mph. Of course you get a fast downhill bit as well but it doesnt seem to compensate.
