I had similar when I listed a Nikon Lens. I’d specifically said UK buyers only but had a bid from the USA who was going to arrange collection. Reported as a scam and heard no more.

Just this afternoon l advertised a couple of workshop tables on Gumtree:

Sitting at a street cafe in Corfu, a young lad dived under the table to 'shine' my shoes forabout 10 seconds, and then demanded 1000 drachma (about £6 at the time IIRC). I hadn't asked him to, and he did it before I could stop him, but I decided it was safer to pay up than argue, then find out his dad is the copper across the road or something.

Heard of another good one where they agree a reasonable sounding price, and buff up one shoe to a parade sergeant shine then quote a
much inflated price for the second one! One shiny and one scruffy looks daft, and fair enough, it's one of the wittier scams, so people pay up

No one was interested James.

Took them to the tip and gave them to the shop they have. Somebody might be using them
