Thinking of getting one of these as the legs are getting tired now days?
Will be used mainly for 20-30mile day trips on roads with a little off road.

Sometimes the occasional trail. No jumps etc

Are these bikes ok? Its alot of money for me to spend, how long do the batteries last before they need to be replaced and are they costly to replace?

Those prices look a lot lower than the current prices on the Giant website

are they a 2023 model - and if so how old is the battery - they don;t like sitting around doing nothing for too long??

other than that they look like good bikes

I have a Raleigh ebike - based on a Bosch motor and battery system - I have just gone over 10,000 miles on it and the range based on my normal rides has dropped a bit but not much
still probably able to do 60 odd miles on a single charge on fairly flat ground - no mountains etc -

I presume Yamaha systems are also pretty good as they as a decent brand
you do need to make sure you treat them nicely - no charging in the cold and don;t keep them unused at low charge - or very high charge - levels
but that does encourgae you to go out for a ride even in winter!

I don;t know how that specific bike and controller work - but mine has a function to see the range left in the battery
so you could ask for it to be fully charged and look at the range - if the range is good then the battery should be OK

basically if the battery is not old then it should be OK

Road and occasional trail ? What sort of trail, canal off road path or real MTB and Trail Centres.

If its just paths and canals then an hybrid or gravel bike is better than a full MTB. You'll get more miles as well

Canal paths can be a bit muddy - to the point of being impassable on my hybrid with road type tyres

I have never tried a gravel bike - how are the tyres on tarmac and the like??
and on wet stone that you often get under canal bridges

The OP needs to be a bit clearer - if they aren't going to hit the mud in winter then fine - they did say mainly road. CX bike here, handles mud fine, and all you do is change the tyres to more knobbly. PS I have 2 MTB's, 2 road bikes and a CX bike, so all bases covered.

Schwalbe Land Cruisers are a very good tyre for road and track and mud - very capable tyre and roll OK on road - I commute on them on my old 90's MTB. They come in loads of sizes so a gravel or hybrid is covered.

Tyre choice is the most important for surfaces. Given OP has said mainly road, an eMTB is a pig for the intended main use. Look, I don't take my full suspension out for a road ride. It will hammer the battery, just as an "old fashioned" bike hammers your legs.

The only real trail i go to is bedgebury in kent?
Other than that i stay local go up a huge hill and blast around in the woods abit, id say 70% road 30% off rd. No jumps and not going hard just go for fitness.

Maybe some mud in winter but i can put better tyres on.

Its not my only or even main hobby so dont want to spend a fortune

Just to wade in if your not using it for commuting, so no need for racks etc, get the E-MTB not a Hybrid. You can get off-road tyres that still run pretty good on road but don't compromise you off road: https://www.schwalbe.com/en/Marathon-Plus-MTB-11101005. I use those and having ridden many rougher tracks I'd much rather be on my MTB than my Hybrid for them.

My hybrid can do the rough stuff, but I have to go very slowly as I'm worried it'll damage itself.

Why do you need an eMTB then ? Just get a normal MTB (hardtail) if you are only going to do a whizz round the woods etc. Seems pointless spending 3-4 times the amount, especially as you have 'other' hobbies. E-MTB's are a money pit, as are full suspension bikes - they need looking after.

Well that answers it - get an e-MTB then. Never get's easier though, but it's not your only hobby - bear in mind the extra maintenance cost.
Do they actually cost more to maintain?

Is it anything you can't do yourself?
Hydrolic brakes and gears i can do, i dont know anything about electric bikes though
