thinking about a club

I used to cycle a fair amount but stopped because of the amount of time i was leaving the wife on her own with the kids, now they are a bit older she has decided to start cycling to improve her fitness, so now its ok for me to start again. Once her fitness has improved we are thinking of joining a club, can anyone recomend a club in the south east essex area that does easy going social rides rather than the very competative type. Thanks in advance.

Plently of gossiping and cafe stops on our CTC rides (average speed usually around 9mph. The only time we've ever been faster is when we averaged 12mph on a 50 miler and that was only because it was a timed event).
