When you watch police chase type programmes on the telly, and they start following people who are doing 80mph on the motorway, why do they wait until they're doing a ton plus before they pull them? Why not switch the blue lights and sirens on as soon as they're speeding? A cynic might think it's because there's a bigger fine or a ban at 100mph or over.

I suspect then they'd get a lawyer saying the driver wasn't aware they were speeding because it was only just over the limit, and they'd get off with a slap on the wrist.
That's a guess though. There are long stretches of Autobahn here with no limit whatsoever: you can imagine the carnage when one petrolhead clips a barrier...
