Teachers often used to tell us off for being a bad example to younger children. Does that mean we could have escaped punishment for our behaviour by blaming the example set by older kids? No, I thought not.

Yes, you should always "know better" than to actually follow the example, and they should "Know better" than to do whatever nefarious deeds they were doing as well. Which is a little odd, because if we all "knew better" then we wouldn't need teachers.

According to the Dulux website it's an Old English Sheepdog and several of them have won 'best of breed'.
