I'm wondering what shorts folk have that are particularly well padded for a few long days cycling.
I'm not a regular "big" cyclist - rides tend to be an hour or two - but I do have a Lon2Paris coming up, and was considering investing in some better shorts than the ones I have. I suspect it could be money well spent - I do tend to feel the pain.....I'm 6' but a somewhat overchunky 95kg :-(

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-aeron-pro-cycling-short/ seem to get fairly good reviews and specifically suggest they are for longer rides.....also wondering if any of the Evans cycles ones are any good.....or other mail-order cycle stores!

Look forward to any ideas!
thanks

The Glue that binds us together.
It's quality not quantity, the best pad i have tried is the Castelli Progetto X2 Air chamois The endura are not to bad, would like to try some assos and see what all the fuss is about.

The best shorts I've ever worn are Pactimo's 'pro-level' bibshorts. Not sure how easy they are to get here in the UK, and they'll set you back around £100 or so, but so, so worth it. I thought my dhb Aeron Pro bibs were comfortable, the Pactimo's are so good that I won't wear the dhb on anything longer than 60k!

Assos ... expensive I know , but the comfort is there and they do last a long time !

Indeed, they have a reputation for being comfortable. T FI. Mille for long rides but I find other models very comfortable too.

I've never had a pair of DHB's but people that wear Assos say the Assos are in a different league.

I was a DHB fan, but now favour Endura pro. I find the quality of pad better, plus the padding is only where it's needed most. Not that much difference in price either.

Thanks for the suggestions so far....although to the "padding is only where it's needed most" - I reckon I need it everywhere, & the thicker the better
Not sure I am 'pro' enough to wear bib shorts....
I may head to a LBS to see what they may have in stock...otherwise I am at the vagaries of mail order!
cheers!

Bibshorts are so much more comfortable though! Once you've got a jersey on over the top they look the same as a pair of shorts anyway.

Why not consider a new seat with gel padding. I got one from Specialized from my local bike shop for about £40 which included a sit bones fitment! I now always have padding and can dispense with expensive cycling shorts.
