Why do people buy ketchup?

Because of bacon butties
and sausage butties
and chips
and pies
and burgers
and potatoes (not roasties - clearly!)
and ham sandwiches - although if proper salad is involved the Salad Cream should be used - but if no salad cream the we are back to ketchup

and - well most things

why was this even a question?????

Perhaps you should tell Heinz that then.

The (small) bottle we have says "After opening, refrigerate" on it. Which is why we put ours in the fridge. BTW, it is over a year beyond it's Best Before date - we use very little of it.

Now I wouldn't expect it to be in the chilled section in the shop though - it is "after opening". And it isn't in the chilled section in our Tesco.

It's in a chilled display with other sauces and burgers etc. Its main display is on the shelves. I'm aware of what is written on the back of the bottle hence my advise to not believe the lies.

If you're going to follow one lie on the bottle how about the BB Date.

BEST IN THE CUPBOARD. 👍

Still don't see any rational reason given

They all require ketchup in order to bring out the fullness of the potential in a holistic manner in order to allow the recipient of the experience to fully appreciate the detailed combination of the ingredients brought together in a dish which delivers the diner with a totality of succulence and flavour.

hope this helps

Since we're on the subject of sauce, it's the upside down bottles with the rubber gland in the nozzle that p!ss me off, because the gland has a modulus that suddenly releases the pressure like the tactile feedback on a rubber key pad. So when you squeeze the bottle it pressurizes the air inside whilst no sauce comes out, then when you reach the yeild point the pressure is released and it spits out too much sauce as the air expands.

They aren't necessary, you can get the last dregs out of a normal bottle if you leave it to stand upside down after you've already got it down to the last dregs.

What is this "too much sauce" that you speak of???

So where does that leave me?
I have just had chips, pie and corned beef WITH brown sauce. Luverly

Hmmmm
the corned beef does move the game toward the brown sauce end
but I think the chips and pie keep it at the ketchup end overall but the question is valid

Unlike SWMBO - who has bacon butties (and sausage butties) with no butter and just brown sauce

I think I should get a tax allowance for missionary work!

It depends what 'it' is... I had a pack of these in the cupboard which needed using up...

I ate 4 of them the other evening after discovering that they were over 2.5 months past their 'best before' date! (Having looked at them very carefully to see if there were any signs of mould, and also sniffing them.) They were perfectly ok.

Well they are not OK when they are fresh. Maybe they improve with age?

Nope in the slightest, still falls under the does not compute, surely food / ketchup, are & always will be mutually exclusive
