;) Ran into the kitchen one day as we heard a scraping, screeching noise from our (not very) old washing machine...FFS ;) there's a growing puddle of water under it
Somehow (the wife of course didnt know how they got in there...blinding realy, cos shes got eyes everywhere any other time)...somehow..a pair of pointy scissors had got in with the washing , the tips had gone through the little holes in the inner drum...and carved a hoofing great gouge out of the outer drum.
Nearly new washing machine....scrapped. I'l tell you what, lets go buy a new washing machine, just for a change

a month or so back I put my mobile phone in (not deliberately I might add)

60c wash and 1200rpm spin dry - still works fine

I did that with BF phone, we came back from the pub one night and he had split something down his jacket and I thought I would put it straight in the machine. I do remember thinking that the machine was "clonking" but then my beer sozled brain ignored it..

Then the next morning when he said he could not find his phone I added 2 and 2 together and rescued his phone from the back of the machine.

However to add to the scientific aspect of this thread washing at 40c and a 1400 spin dry stopped the phone working.. therefore we can deduce that it is the spin that broke it not the temp of the water

I used to put training shoes in the washing machine to clean them. Worked pretty well too. That was deliberate though.

My mother once put one of my mate's jackets in the tumble drier after we came in soaked, it was one of those quilted ones, and it shrunk like nothing on earth! It was half way up his arms :0)

I used to wash my jeans and then put them into the tumble drier soaking wet. Took about four hours to dry them and my mother flaked out when she found out, must've cost a fortune.

Trainers for me as well. I've put a £2,400 train season ticket in. Train company couldn't believe I had washed it. I thought it would be a regular occurrence myself.

Memory stick with several meg of crucial work-related data (database rebuilding scripts). I retrieved it, emptied it (of water), dried it gently with Mrs AC's hair-drier - no probs!

I am 'reliably' informed that I have had a screw or two in the washing machine. Along with Allen keys, £5 note - in £2.50 pieces, a cleat, tissues - the usual suspects...
...one time I put a load of spaghetti and tomatoes in there on purpose...made a right Miele of it!

Made me laugh!

My provisional driving licence two days before I was due to take my test. Couldn't find it, got suspicious, went outside and did a forensic examination of the drain cover and found tiny fibres of green and white paper everywhere.

Washed my favourite jacket after it went green and mouldy in a cupboard in Spain and it came out very shrunk.

Have caused a couple of pink whites episodes in our house over the years.

My gf washed our passports, this was a few years ago, still use the same passport, although it is looking a wee bit tired now.

My wife's washed my phone too. I used it as an alarm clock and must have left it on/in the bed. She changed the sheets and bunged it all in the wash. Must've gone in powered up, but was off when it came out. Left it is the airing cupboard for a day or two and it worked fine - with less dust in the display too.

40c, 1300 spin wash, so upto 1300 is ok but 1400+ not

Mobile 'phone for me too.
But that's ok because the 'phone company replaced it with a nice new shiny one.

That's not weird though.

I did somehow wash a box of 40mm cross head screws once. Well half wash. Damn screws made holes in just about everything else in the machine. Just as well it was all the Mrs stuff huh?

In the winter I regularly stick my filthy cycling shoes in the washer. They come out wonderfully clean. The cleats make a hell of a racket if they find the inside wall of the drum, and they do dent the drum a bit but no one sees that do they?

That's the reason I only put them in when Mrs Colly is out:biggrin:
