Oh - another point about the kids party mentioned above

When we got there is was not raining - so some kids were out playing on the grass

You could tell it was St Helens as no-one had thought to bring a football
but 2 seperate families had brought Rugby Balls!

Reminded me of the main PE specialist teacher when I was working at a local Primary school
She said it was the first school she had worked in where boys started school unable to kick a ball straight
but were good at spin passing a Rugby ball

No. And both of these are genuine major companies eg Legal and General.
That's only one company!

Which is why the shelves in my house rather redefine the concept of horizontal!!!

As a side note - we have a display thingy in the lounge - made of 3 interlocking circles of wire with3 shelves inside

I made a point of being EXTREMLY careful to try to get it right
spirit level on shelves at all time

I was very pleased with myself when I finished and the level showed it was perfectly level - not even a little bit out

SWMBO took one look at it and said it was wonky again - she is used to it so was not annoyed

BUT I WAS!!!
it was perfect!!
I checked again and it was still just right - I commented that it was the best I have ever done so we looked again
she was looking at one shelf while I was measuring using the other 2

Turns out that the shelves are not level WITH EACH OTHER
so no matter how well you put the thing up - it always looks wonky from one side or the others

Probably the only one I have ever done right - and the manufacturing means that it STILL looks wonky!!!!

I redecorated the front room in our last house and when I finished the chimney breast didn't look right, when I checked it my papering was spot on but the chimney was wonky, not unexpected in a house built in 1900, I left it as it was and nobody else noticed, but I could see it every time I walked in the room.

Our house is the same age as me, born in '68.

The air con unit in the lounge looks fractionally wonky, but the spirit level does not lie - the unit it is surgically precise on the horizontal and its the ceiling slightly on the pish.

Started young, and still going.

Barnet,
I went out to the shops, got some veg to make a summer soup, peppers, courgettes, aubergine and onions.
Failed to get the seeds then and it was raining popped into the Mitre for a pint.
5 hours later, and a few pints too many after meeting a couple of people I hadn't seen for a while I made it home none too worse for the wear.
Jacket potatoes, sausages, cheese and beans for tea. :hungry:

Only 14C out there.

Chilly!

In the sunny south we only have 16c, but 22c indoors with top windows open and no heating

I was a good boy today

Yesterday SWMBO ordered some trousers
so I was tasked with picking them up from Next

Luckily it was raining so I took the car - would have taken the bike because a pair of trousers easily fits in a backpack

when they came out with it it was HUGE - in a bag that was taller than me and rather heavier than a single pair of trouser for a "lady"

Took the parcel home and we opened it
3 pairs of trousers

and a man's suit - quite a nice one - lovely lining and good quality (for Next - Saville Row people might disagree)
label on it said it was for a different person - somehow got put into the wrong external bag

looked at it - size was about right - trousers were actually my size

OF COURSE I tried it on

it was too small - especially too tight but also too short

didn;t actually try the trousers on - just in case they fitted and landed me with a moral dilemma

Anyway - too late to take back yesterday - but took them back today

it was a suit that I would never have bought myself - but SWMBO said it was lovely and would have suited me if it had fitted
probably just as well that it didn;t!!!

The issue here is that the atmosphere is chock full of moisture so 14C feels cold today but on a much drier day 14C can feel ok.

I used to live in the south (Tunbridge Wells) and it is generally much drier there and lowish temps always felt ok.
