I asked lots of "dumb" questions when I bought my first wheels from Spa. I'd never even thought to measure the rear dropouts (they correctly advised that as they were going on a late 90s hybrid they were probably 135mm) but they talked me through that. Maybe it helps that I've kept a lot of my northern accent

I found them great to deal with. My frame size wasn't in stock but he phoned me with updates and let me know when it came in and talked through specs with me. Very friendly. Bike arrived perfectly set up.
Same here…and I definitely don’t have a gruff northern male accent

As an aside, quite a few years ago one of my sisters worked for a bicycle importer in Brum. She was arranging imports, sales etc.
I asked about getting a bike for Mrs Tenkaykev and she sent me the trade catalogue which was a real eye opener. I could buy a basic BSO for £18 if I purchased 100 off. There were, of course, much better bikes listed, but the BSO price stuck in my mind.

I'm banned from Spa.
Why?

My next door neighbour who is an occasional cyclist when his car breaks down or his wife's using it gets his bikes from the local tip/recycling. Not long ago he had a puncture and instead of repairing it he got another one from the tip!
I bought a bike a couple of weeks ago for undisclosed sum as it was being sold due to a front tyre puncture and the previous owner couldn't be bothered to repair it
