……only to be replaced with Tractors / Combines / simple agricultural folk herding their animals across the road. It’s not all bliss ‘over here’ 😉

I'll take that sometimes over turning left out of my drive straight onto Caerphilly mountain...( I usually turn right).

I love cycling along the Waveney valley on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, but that's all about ancient memories - that's where I had my first kiss, that's where I ran out of petrol, that's where I fell off my bike...

Might not work for visitors.

You ran out of petrol, got the Brompton out the boot but fell off a few mile later and a yokel named Bubba gave you CPR?

The old ran out of petrol excuse eh?

The one so favoured in the movies by American teens who then try and demonstrate their best octopus impression to the young lady in the passenger seat. 😂

That makes me think of cycling on the flat Fylde Coast, mostly Lytham to Fleetwood and back. 7mph into a northerly headwind, 23mph on the way back.
Pah... On the Costa Blanca once I got blown backwards out of a tunnel that I was trying to ride into.

I stuck the bike into its lowest gear (39/29), stood out of the saddle, and tried again...

The front of the bike lifted and dumped me off the back. I had to pull the bike back down onto the road to stop it blowing away!

At that point I gave up and decided to go back to the hotel. My speed increased so rapidly that within seconds I was spinning out in my top gear (53/13)! That would be around 60 km/hr or 37 mph...

As a non native to the (edge of) the Fens, it made.me laugh when a colleague who originated from Birmingham noted...how come the Fens are so flat, yet the roads are SO bumpy ? (Its a very true observation IMO)

There's a section of road between Casa Reynard and Littleport that, if you hit it too quickly and at the wrong angle, you can actually get your car airborne. Not recommended, as it bashes the heck out of the sump on landing...
