The weather has been pretty good in Manchester last 12 weeks !

I suspect your new bike isn't set up correctly, or you are yet to get accustomed to the road bike positioning.

70 miles in 12 weeks - there is the problem - not cycled enough ! :hello:

Good morning amaferanga from a sunny Manchester, thanks for your input: on reflection I may have come across as negative. No intention, It's just that the situation has presented me with a complex training problem. On tour on MTB, I can carry 15 K, 50 miles across country, get up at 6am no ache's or pains and start all over again. On light road bike 30 miles at only 10 % higher average speed, legs ache and need to rest for 2 days. Just trying to puzzle it out. Cheers Zoof

That sounds like positioning differences.

Thanks for the input Fossyant Hont: both bikes side by side the BB and saddle look in the same position, both cranks are 170mm. The differences are 700 wheels and 26 in, and the gear ratios. My thinking at present is that the different gear ratios keep running me into the red zone. And yes it's true I'm not yet accustomed to the road bike positioning. But may try again tomorrow, will be easily recognised by sign on back “running in please pass” don’t get me wrong, I’m really enjoying the changeover. cheers Zoof unsure.gif

Get the tape measure out - looking the same isn't right. Measure BB axel to saddle top, and set back of the saddle from the BB - loads of resources on line about setup.
